Medications

• Acetaminophen by mouth: works well for common fever, can be given every 4 hours as needed
• Acetaminophen suppository: available OTC, when child cannot tolerate by mouth
• Ibuprofen: works better and longer for high fevers given every 6-8 hours
• Do not give Ibuprofen to an infant less than 6 months old
